Next week is slated for this year’s National Architecture Week, a public awareness campaign from the American Institute of Architects dedicated to increasing attention to the role architects play as a force for positive change in our communities and to elevate the public’s appreciation of design.
As in previous years, National Architecture Week will be a virtual endeavor composed of daily pin boards on Pinterest and an Architecture is Awesome contest on Instagram. The idea is to showcase architects’ good designs via social networking and encourage architecture fans to share their thoughts and engage with like-minded professionals.
Pin boards will be posted each day and feature some of AIA National staff’s favorite architects and their work. Also posted throughout the week will be videos from architecture thought leaders regarding how they have been inspired by architects’ work.
Instagram users have the opportunity to win gift cards in the Architecture is Awesome contest by simply uploading tagged images of favorite local architectural sites. Five winners will be selected and announced on Twitter on Monday, April 15.
