Taexx, the bug barrier, effectively controls household pests through a network of tiny tubes that run through designated walls of a home and connect back to exterior service ports, where pest control materials are injected.
Taexx was first developed in 1990 by a company in Florida. In 1996, the Taexx system was acquired by HomeTeam Pest Defense, out of Dallas, Texas, who has since installed over 500,000 systems and is currently the third largest residential pest control company in the United States. According to Dirk Korte, vice president of national accounts, HomeTeam Pest Defense services about 50 major building markets in the following states: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri.
Korte said, “Single-family homes are our biggest market, however we also do quite a bit of multi-unit buildings along with high-rise buildings. The cost for installing a Taexx system in a standard single family home is typically $300 or less, depending on the square footage of the home. The average quarterly pest maintenance costs about $1 per day.”
