Taexx is a cost effective technology that is installed in homes during construction.
Taexx is installed primarily in standard wood frame construction, either 2 X 4 or 2 X 6 exterior walls. It is adaptable to slab foundation, basement or crawl space, and the tube installation method can be modified to accommodate the type of insulation: fiber glass, blown cellulose, or foam. According to Dirk Korte, vice president of national accounts, HomeTeam services over 1,000 building partners across the United States and works closely with the top 25 builders in the United States.
Korte explains the installation process, “HomeTeam technicians install the Taexx system right before insulation and dry wall, basically just before the walls are closed up. Taexx technicians drill small holes through the studs in designated walls and wet walls (anywhere there is plumbing, drain lines, hot and cold water line), then small, polyethylene, perforated tubes are run through the walls, which connect back to exterior service ports. Most homes have two exterior ports on each side of the house. The installation process typically takes 2.5 hours, including clean up and quality control on installation.”
Korte added, “Often our Taexx system is installed along with a termite pretreatment. Many states require homes to be treated for termites, so it is a nice package to install Taexx and treat for termites.”
After the installation process, HomeTeam sets up an annual service agreement with the homeowner, which typically involves quarterly treatments.
