Artist Jayson Fann builds human-sized nests so that people can have what you might call an avian sleeping experience. Something like a cross between a tree house and a sculpture, the nests are very basic – if it rains don’t be surprised if you get wet.
Fann harvests the branches for each nest from local forests, each chosen with “great respect and care for the trees.”
Nests can be purchased from Big Sur Spirit Garden, and range in price from $4,000 for the “love seat” nest to $20,000 for a nest that holds up to 20 people. There is one nest open to the public, which can be found at the Treebones Resort, on California’s Big Sur Coast, which the resort’s website refers to as and ““Extreme ”eco sleep” experience.
