The Shoe was built in 1990 near Branddraai, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa
It is the work of entrepreneur and artist Ron Van Zyl, and is part of a complex that includes an eight-chalet guest house, a camp site, a restaurant, a bar, a pool, a curio shop, and a museum that features rock and wood carvings.
